The newly developed damper sets new standards in individualization and user-friendliness. With an extended adjustment range, the rebound and compression damping can be adjusted precisely and finely graduated in order to tune the suspension precisely to individual requirements.

Thanks to the new electronic spring preload in a compact design, installation is quick and uncomplicated – without the need for the usual external EPA pumps. Robust, space-saving and efficient, it optimizes the suspension, while the pump makes unobtrusive use of the available space and the GS remains slim and always ready for any adventure.

With a 46 mm damper piston equipped with a low-friction piston band, the system ensures an extremely direct and sensitive response. The separating piston contains an additional guide that supports low-friction sliding and thus further improves the response behavior.

The enhanced function of the progressive damping system (PDS) with a newly designed hydraulic stop reliably prevents bottoming out, even in extreme situations. An enlarged, two-part reservoir provides more oil volume and a maximized cooling surface, which enables effective heat dissipation and guarantees constant damper performance even under extreme loads.

Various adjustment options make the “Limited Edition” suspension elements a flexible system. While the rebound damping is adjusted at the base of the shock absorber, the double compression adjustment on the reservoir can be precisely adjusted over a particularly wide adjustment range. The low and high-speed ranges are also particularly easy to adjust using differently color-coded adjusters.

For vehicles with electronic DDA suspension, the tuning package includes matching cancellation plugs, which are simply plugged into the existing connectors and prevent error messages in the cockpit.

Like all suspension elements from Touratech Suspension, the new “Limited Edition” shock absorbers are fully serviceable. After intensive rides or loads, the shock absorbers can be dismantled and overhauled to ensure consistent performance and long-term riding enjoyment under extreme conditions.

What is DDA?

On BMWs DDA stands for Dynamic Damping Adjustment (or Dynamic Damping Assistance). This is a feature of Touratech’s Extreme2 shock absorbers , that allows the suspension’s damping to adjust automatically and in real-time to the riding situation.

Key features of DDA:

• Automatic Adjustment: The system uses a high-performance DDA valve (patented by Tractive) to change the damping characteristics in fractions of a second based on the riding surface and conditions.
• Integration: Aftermarket DDA systems are designed to integrate with the motorcycle’s original control units, allowing the rider to retain the use of the stock handlebar switches and riding modes (e.g., “Rain”, “Road”, “Dynamic”).
• Enhanced Performance: It is designed to provide better stability and handling, particularly for long-distance touring, by ensuring consistent and optimal damping regardless of the load or terrain.

BMW’s factory-installed version of this technology is typically called Dynamic ESA (Electronic Suspension Adjustment) or DDC (Dynamic Damping Control). The DDA systems are premium aftermarket alternatives that offer enhanced performance and durability, especially for heavy use or off-road conditions.
