NOW ECE R90 APPROVED What does R90 mean? Cheap and nasty motorcycle brakes are the quickest way to an accident no matter where or how you ride. EBC Brakes welcomes the new legislation on ECE R90 brake safety testing that shuts the door on unworthy parts. Until recently all EBC Brakes were tested by the notorious German TUV test centres and carried the KBA (German Motor Vehicle Organisation) certification number. EBC Brakes is pleased to announce that after extensive multi-model testing at the MIRA (Motor Industries Research Association) test track located at Nuneaton, UK, that both EBC aramid organic pads and EBC Double-H sintered pads have been approved.

EBC Brakes is one of a handful of quality companies who has been granted this license and the production line , machinery, tools ,testing and cleaning equipment needed to adopt this process represents an investment of over 1.0 million Euros.NRS is the trademark of the firm NUCAP of Canada and is a system where small hooks about one mm tall are pressed into the surface of the backing plate where the friction/brake material is bonded acting like a super strong Velcro. This secures the pads to the backing plate MUCH MORE SECURELY than simple adhesive bonding systems used by all other brake manufacturers.

NRS allows brake pads to be run down to the last few millimetres of friction material, while still maintaining 100% retention, enhancing life of your brake pads and saving you money on costly replacements. NRS-applied pads allow friction manufacturers to engineer friction products that demonstrate an extended duty cycle by retaining overall plate/pad integrity to the absolute end of friction wear.

ADHESIVE / NRS COMPARISON

Tests show that the NRS plates will keep the friction attached to the backing plate until the very end of the brake pad life. Adhesives break down quite rapidly during the braking cycle. This can cause edgelift, which can lead to noise, vibration, rust-jacking and eventual breakdown of the brake pad. NRS drastically improves retention and shear values no matter if there is glue or not and over all conditions.
