Keep the heat out of your 790 shock with our heat-shield. A cooler shock improves your suspension performance and extends service intervals.

In order to meet Euro 5 emissions, KTM mounted a large catalytic converter on the 790. We're all for lower exhaust emissions but the CAT is located directly under the rear shock. The CAT can be several hundred degrees under normal bike operation and heat from the CAT increases the shock temperature. When the shock oil is overheated it goes through thermal breakdown. This process changes oil's viscosity which can lead to increased wear on moving parts and poor suspension performance referred to as heat-fade.

Our aluminum heat shield is TIG welded and ceramic-coated. It mounts between the bike's CAT and rear shock to lower the shock's operating temperature. Less heat from the CAT means the shock oil stays cooler, service intervals are extended, the effects of shock heat fade are reduced.

We've received lots of questions about the 790 ADV-R shock failures and the relationship to catalytic converter heat.  Camel ADV is not a suspension shop but we believe there are issues with the ADV R shock's internal parts as well as excessive heat from the CAT. If the problem were heat alone, the S models would be failing too but they don't seem to be or at least not in the same numbers.

Whether you have a 790 ADV-R, 790 ADV-S or are running the WP Pro components, keeping excessive heat out of them is critical to good suspension performance and longevity. However, our heat shield will not fix the ADV-R's underlying shock issue.

We love the KTM 790/890 Adventure off-road but found the clutch friction zone to be narrower than we'd like.

To help smooth out the toggle switch-like clutch feel, we designed a new clutch actuator arm that is 19mm longer than stock. This longer arm not only widens the friction zone by 60%, it also reduces the clutch pull substantially for easy one finger clutch operation! The wider friction zone and one finger clutch operation make riding off-road more enjoyable. The light clutch pull is also great for riding in stop and go traffic.

The KTM 790 ADV has been a solid performer since it's launch in early 2019. There's tons of cool new tech on the bike that hasn't been seen on an ADV bike from the Austrian brand before.

Unfortunately, the designers decided to stick with the weak, problematic headlight/gauge cluster mounting set-up that was used on the 1090/1190/1290 line. 

Everything ahead of the steering stem hangs off of four tiny metal posts that are welded to the bike's head tube. It appears that the lower support bars the designers added to the 790 have done little to beef up the mounting points. The 790's headlight set-up is quite heavy. Add to that the gauge cluster, windscreen, lower wind deflectors, signal lights etc and you have a lot of weight hanging off these weak mounting points.

Over rough terrain, these posts see a lot of stress and eventually snap off. This is a problem for several reasons. Obviously, the broken posts need to be welded back on to the frame leading to some less than ideal backwoods repair jobs (see welding pic below). Another issue is the bike's immobilizer system resides under the headlight. When the headlight assembly snaps off, the wires of the immobilizer can be damaged, leaving you with a broken mount and a dead bike.

The Camel ADV 790 Neck Brace supports the four troublesome mounting posts by tying them together and attaching to a mounting tab behind the bike's head tube. This keeps the posts from flexing and breaking off.

The DENALI Control Switch enables complete control of the KTM CANsmart light circuits. Both Auxiliary Light Set One and Auxiliary Lights Set Two can be independently toggled ON/OFF and adjusted to the desired intensity via the switch.

The kit includes a 7/8" mounting band which is used to attached the control switch to your handlebar, right next to the factory controls.

In addition to molded silicone gasket seals, we use a unique DrySeal™ construction technique that encases the wires in a potted cavity as they enter the housing. This ensures our housings are 100% watertight even when submerged underwater with the wires cut and connector removed.
